Film Review: Sajid Khan's 'Himmatwala' is one of the Worst Remake ever

Sajid Khan the greatest film maker of all the times had come with another ace on his sleeveless shirt- Himmatwala, remake of a super-hit 1980 movie starring white jumping jack- Jeetendra & Buxom beauty from South turning an all time legendary Bollywood actress- Sridevi. Also starring Cute looking bad guy Amjad Khan and father of all crass yet entertaining comedy- Kadar Khan.

Do not blame the chubby critic turned director brother of choreographer Farah Khan as he made some of the disastrous film made by his sister (Tees Maar Khan) and brother in law Shirish "Joker Famed" Kunder look better in front of this super debacle called Himmatwala. While the sister and hubby resorted to Akshay kumar to salvage their poor script, bad screenplay and mindless, entertainment less movies like Tees Maar Khan and Joker, Apna cutie Sajid signed Ajay Devgan for this headache called Hee he Himmatwala.

After-all, family that spins crap together, stick together. While I still wonder why SRK was so upset with his long term friend Farah Khan for not making her last movie with him? He should be actually happy that she like a true friend of his didn't bring a movie like that to his Bad-shah name and rather screwed his rival- Akshay Kumar' market with this. Why are we talking about Tees maar khan here? Oops sorry Sajid, this post is meant to revel in the masterpiece that you boastfully created after skilfully judging the contestants of Nach Baliye season 5 and ripping apart all those movies with your sharp & witty reviews on "Ikke pe Ikka" on Zee Cinema (one movie channel which has more ad playing in an hour than a cumulative , about decade back. We loved you so much even in that small role in "Jhooth Bole kauwa kaate" (such a respite from Anil overdoing kapoor). I even jhelo-ed your hey baby and Houseful in hope that one day you will perfect the art of making Indian versions of romcom movies like "meet the parents" etc and make a movie as good as your fine wit or in tune of memorable works of my old time favorites- Honey Irani & Daisy Irani (I still adore them). This movie is such a let down. May be RGV should sign you for next movie- "Sajid tune kya kiya".  The less I talk about this movie is more actually. May be let actors of this movie talk about the film which was suppose to be a tribute to 80's but turned to be a spoof of a spoof. How? Go figure.

Here's the review of the movie, in pictures. Let's start with Introduction of main cast and characters....

Meet me, I am Sajid' intraport to Bollywood, a rediscovery from South- Tammana Bhatia. Does that name rings a bell? off course, I was the famous Miss infamously mis-caught in that cricket betting scandal where I have little to do except having the same name as the real fraudster oops damsel.  Thanks to it some people started knowing me by my face than just my belly button which I have amply flaunted in this 4 scenes, 2 songs touted to be Rs 200 cr club movie. Anyways, I am here to entertain. By that I mean, have a look at all visible parts of my body and get Paisa Vassol (value for money) you first few row rowdy crowds and you, middle row maniacs and you last row cootchie cooing birds. Sajid being such an intelligent guy, knowing the potential of his movie, aptly cast-ed me in this perfect role of a bimbo. So, I am Rekha, a spoiled brat of a cruel land mafia in a distant village who hate the word "Garib" (poor) but still do not do anything about it. I am a bimbo you see. I wear skin flaunting cloths in Indian railway and travel whole village in them only to fall in love with a contrast of a hero sooner than later in this movie after he respectfully hits on my bum and entices everyone in the crowded palatial house of a poor driver to do the same. Aww I helped Sajid to think of a better screenplay even when the story of a movie was served in his platter given the 30 years of time he got to imperfect the art. More on me, later on this picture review (Ah! Let me show what I got baby). If you are wondering how come I am introduced before AJ, well haven't you seen SRK endorsing "heroine first" in his latest tea ad.

Hello, cine-goers of stupid mindless Indian comedy. You probably by now would have known me. I am "The Ajay Devgan", new "Akshay Kumar" of mindless, dumber comedies. Wait! I am the original and in fact Akki copied me while I gave some sensible movies in between too. Yes Rascal, no Golmaal. Tee hee. I play the ideal character of Ravi in this movie who has a widow mother,a single, unmarried sister and a tragic past waiting to be avenged  back at home. I am a skilled fighter who can beat bulkiest to dust, arm wrestle with ferocious tigers, fights with army of strong goons and play ABCD with the cruel villain at his place, eating his biryani courtesy bought in by a poor villager who sold his wifey's mangalsutra to buy it while avenging him for father's death and family agony. I can fight, dance (somehow), do comedy, emote and charge crores from directors/ producers who waste my otherwise talent on such B grade remakes.

Yay Yay! Daddy got me a song in this movie. You all know me. I am Sonakshi Sinha, a carbon copy of my father's much talked about co-actress Reena "Sheesha ho ya dil ho" Roy. No Controversies. Coming back to movie, it is an "author backed" item song. If you think it's one of those shorter than skirt kind of appearance think again for probably you are right. But may be you are not. For I wear larger than thy dresses in the movie to prove the theory wrong. Notwithstanding the potential that I carry on my face, I am reduced to just a song in this movie and that too in opening sequence.  (Now people has one more reason to come late for the show). While the author of this blog kind of like me for being myself, not trying to kill myself dieting in an attempt to look like thread on screen. She also thinks that given my lineage (not to forget am daughter of one of her favorite actor onscreen), I could do lot better. Anyways, don't be surprised if you do not see me in movie or figuring why I was there in first place, just sing- Thank God it's friday! How original.

Meet Zareena Wahab, actress and new found "abla bechari" mother of Bollywood. Sajid told me I can make a quick buck in this movie by doing few things only- wear white sari with a wig and do regular tear shedding act of mine all while looking tormented, trodden and yet ideal. Oh I loved to play such role to hilt and when they told me that Adhyayan Suman, ex of Kangana who is ex of my ex husband Aditya Pancholi ke peeche kya hai, is also starring in this movie, all my emotions came naturally. So I stay as an outcast in a village with my young and beautiful daughter and make our living by sewing cloths of debt ridden villagers who refuse to give us grains to eat, all in reverence of the ferocious head of village who got my husband stoned to death by alleging him in false case of stealing jewelries of the Goddess. Boo Hoo...they burned our house so much that I have to plea my little son to flea while my little daughter and I suffered in silence. Yeh Aag kab boojhegi!

Whoa! I just got a mention here. I am Adhyayan Suman, son of Shekhar movers and shakers Suman. Unfortunately my solo hero debut didn't turn as well and a certain Mr. Emraan Hasmi stole all thunder from me in my last release Raaz 2, I am happy to play role of an obedient son Shakti Kapoor played in original. So, I a playing this young guy who for once no known reason was seen madly in love with sister of hero and again for no specific reason seen torturing her post marriage, all in well rehearsed dialogue delivery session (another for no reason). You didn't get me? well I too. Never mind, when the entire movie is a baseless nonsense, how would my side role will make any sense. You see a point here? So, finally somebody took me in their film (after everyone being busy to launch and promote star children of top read richest film stars). Acting in this movie came easy to me.  How much I wished as Ms Wahab played role of my onscreen wife's mother, if Mr. Pancholi have played the role of my father, it would be a sorta family reunion film. Bliss, we could have had Kangana in the same role as Leena Jumani (who is she? read below) and torturing her would have become easier for both father and son that we played in this movie. I am such an ex factor of this movie. Aaaow!

Awww thanks for mentioning me too here. Nothing like getting some recognition for newbies like us, it helps us in getting more work and why not. I am Leena Jumani. Leena who? Now if you have ever watched TV, you would know who. I have a small space here. So coming to the point, I play the quintessential sister of a masala movie hero, who is so vulnerable to getting raped by villains. Thankfully, Sajid had to give a message in this movie (however mindless it came across as. Wish they would have done something serious rather) so I was spared only to be tortured by onscreen husband who is the son of the guy who killed my father, tried to burn us alive in our own house and got us banished from village to perish. Still I love him more than my co struggling mother. But Sajid does what Sajid does. He has to show mindless screenplay calling it 80's ka era, so be it. Nevertheless, I think this movie should be rather called- Himmatwali!

I need no introduction and after this film I need to be hidden in a closet for being a bad remake of the father of 80's comedy- Kadar Khan in this shit called entertainment. I ham beyond my barrister like wigs and instead of being a saving Ryan that I am to most Hindi movies that I act in, I have become a "shaving cotton stuffed in your nostrils" in this shame of remake and shame of a great role replayed. I play stupid yes man of the village landlord who gets his only son married to a poor girl and extort money for landlord. Oh! Don't you think that I just blindlessly tried to ape kadar khan, I also brought my own innovations like ugly gay jokes.

I am Kadar khan the original actor essayed the role in original Himmatwala. Whatever happened to me after watching this movie, is a mystery.

Meet us, we are the five regional superstars who are given a two piece, two minute item song in this movie. Which song? errr Sheela ki jawani...nooo....munni badnam...eeks no.....forget it as many viewers including the music director too have forgotten this song after creating it. We were signed to substitute the poor expression skills of film's main lead. We tried our bit but even we couldn't help this Chinese Titanic from sinking. Blame it on poor music and choreography!

Aye...I am the cruel landlord who plays Mahesh Majrekar in this film. Confused? It is not an error of transposition but a new found error of "disposition" that will cause the film's produces a lot of accounting loss and deficit in balance sheet. After poor story, I mean poor execution of making a remake and wasting talents in this film, Sajid went to judge a dance show. Wish all the intelligence & common sense that he used in the dance show, if 1/3 of it was used in this movie, people would have watched it. I play a comedian evil villain in this movie, who looks a perfect cast and perfectly wasted as well. tell you something new. Well that is the reason I chose to talk at the end. Now up to you Sajid.

Hell I am not faraah khan, I look similar oh no she looks like oh no I look, whatever...I am Sajid khan, the director of this debacle. I made this movie for the welfare of Indian women who after watching this movie will cry and clap and oops slap too...such is magic of a slapstick movie. I know the potential of my crass oops mass entertainers and hence do not want critic's rating and not even half star. Yes I called it mass entertainers as the movies that I make are watched by combined masses of me, my sister Farah Khan, her husband Shirish Kunder and they four little children and off course the stars of my movies. Now you know why I make only multi-starrers? This movie has tribute to them and I said so "kyonki kehne mein kya harz hai?" (What's the harm in saying)

....That's all folks! We rest this long pending post here with cast and character introductions. Spelling/ Grammer mistakes- pl oversee as my Internet at Jharkhand is at short supply and man it is damn hot here!In the next post, shall bring a synopsis of the movie in pictures to compensate all the "bol bachchan" (long verse) hre. "You are beautiful"! I hummed the legendary song as I saw a new chirpy actress gyrating to a popular no on TV. It was a song from Hindi movie Cocktail where gorgeous debutante actress Diana Penty was strutting on the song- Tum hi bandhu, sakha tum hi....

As she jumped on dance steps, her silky, hair flowed across the frame. Wish I had hair as beautiful like her, I thought and turned down on the table to pick an invite from a friend.

Avante Garde Org
invites you to

Eye-catchers
If looks could kill!!!

On Monday 10th May
at
Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kolkata

It was fashion show organized by my friends at Avante Garde Omnimedia to bring forth the launch of a brand new saloon- Eye catchers in the city. I have attended the prep sessions of this much promising event in the town and couldn't wait to see the event unfold.

To make the most of it, my friend Samir promised me for a pre event saloon treatment for my hairs. I was kicked about it and shortlisted few hair styles for the event including my dress for the occasion. Unfortunately due to time constraint, I have to skip the session. Now one of the biggest question that I have to face was- what to do with my hairs? The eternal question that am sure every girl, every women has to face while dressing up for that special occasion. In absence of any alternative, I decided to tuck up my freshly washed
(I washed my hair that morning with new Tresemme) hair in a semi bun with a long Chinese pin.

The idea didn't worked as my hairs smooth after the wash kept on coming off the clip looking unkempt. I dropped the idea of bun and let it kept open. I was un sure of keeping it open as after wash, my hair takes atleast 24hrs time to come back in shape and accentuate the cut. To my surprise, it was looking even more manageable, accentuating every little layer it was snipped in to. With a little help of dryer, I was raring to go.

The event hosted at lavish Grand Hyatt was a roaring success and fashion show was amazing. All the models looked superb and splendid.

I received numerous compliments and queries for my hair. Some guests thought that being from organizer's side, I would have got some preferential saloon treatment but they were surprised to know that it was just shampoo+ conditioner and some handiwork of a hair dryer!

My Ramp Ready hair with Tresmme

How to get my 1-2-3 Tresmme Ramp ready Hair-

Wash your hair with Tresmme anti frizz shampoo and allow it to dry naturally.
1.While your hairs are  70% dried, bend your head down and turn ur hairs down. Using fingers of your hands, untangle semi dried hairs and then push them back.
2. Now turn your head right side down, shifting all ur hairs to right hand side. With the help of your fingers, roll your hairs towards right. Do it for a minute. Repeat this process by turning your head towards the left side.
3. Repeat the left and right process for 2-3 times and you are done.

Divide your hairs in two portions- from front and top back. Take the hairs at top back and form in a small fountain like pony from middle and if required blow dry it for a minute to create volume. When your hairs are completely dried, starting from right side of forehead, part your hairs in a zig-zag way. Your hairs are ramp ready!

This simple yet gorgeous looking hair style is best suited for hairs with step cut or layers cut.

When your hair look so beautiful, why need artificial accessory?
The best part is that it goes well with all kind of attires.

A Thing of Technology is Joy Forever

Times are changing and along with it changing is the way we used to live. Ever since human being's big evolution from a neanderthal man to Homosapien happened, the brain and the body has gone through numerous change and development. Gone are the days when people would lose a precious life from a fit of cholera to incessant TB coughing. Today's men had gone to moon, swam the English channel and conquered north and south poles.

Along with technology too have traveled the distances it never heard of and came back victorious. And it is not just limited to rare few but many people who braved the big health battles of their lives, today live comfortably due to the support the modern healthcare has provided to them. More we talk about it, is less. Who has ever thought that there would be a vaccine called penicillin or a CT scan through which it can read inside a person' brain? The X ray goes deep inside your skin and diagnose each and every bone in the body.

There are many ways technology has touched our lives. Like a mother nature, it has spread its arms to the needy, seen their bruises and healed them as well. Here's few live example of modern healthcare technology and it's Midas touch-

  • A young couple was struggling for years to have a baby. After 6 years of relentless pursue and chasing 1000 doctors, temples etc they discovered IVF- In-Vitro Fertilization. Today they are parents of a heart and healthy child. Thanks to Infertility care.
  • 80 year old Bheema couldn't walk more than 3 steps a time. Old age has consumed his knees and he was confined to bed. Post a successful knee operation surgery, he not only walks unaided but also goes and participate every year in senior citizen's short marathon.
  • Martha a 70 year old lady has lost her eye sight completely. She struggled everyday to enjoy basic joys of life like seeing a child play, a bird fly, a flower bloom. Her life was a living gloom till one day her son learnt about the boon called laser eye treatment. He without wasting a minute took Martha to the nearest specialist center and in few days Martha was able to see again.
  • Cosmetic surgery- We all have heard about the famous "Pinky smile" and also many cases where people who were born with certain deformity are then transformed via cosmetic surgery to not just normal looking but the specialization has also made the beautiful look even prettier. So you have a scar that bad accident left you? A birthmark right on face? Want to go for nose correction? Cosmetic surgery is the answer for same.
  • Organ transplantation has saved many a lives and it indeed a magic of the modern healthcare that takes an organ from the body of a person and transplant it to another needy person. Leave alone the malpractices, let us concentrate on the scope and possibility. Do you not think the idea is a sheer brilliance in self? If you do not, ask Mr. Kale who recently got a new lease of life from heart transplantation.
  • Bone Marrow Transplant- there are so many forms of cancer that we even do not know how to pronounce, affecting the mild bodies of new born, adults and elderly. Using a bone marrow either from one' own or a matching donor, a life could be saved easily. Khusbu, the little angelic girl, was diagnosed with Leukemia and was given hope on her life. It is then she found a savior in her brother who helped her with his bone marrow. She is a an active girl and plays badminton.
  • Medical tourism- The boon of modern healthcare is not just limited to a certain geography. People travel across the world to meet/ visit specialist for treating their ailments. Sakina, one such girl who traveled seven seas to get a better prosthesis in USA. The robotic leg that she is using now makes her live independently  Though nothing can replace the original leg but her life has been improved so much and embossed with better hopes with her new leg.
  • Remember the girl who was thrown out from train while fighting the snatchers, she has recently climbed a tall mountain with help of her friend- the modern healthcare. Her determination was well supported by the medical boon.

Indeed, the medical boom has touched many lives and will continue to do so. However a very important question emerges- for who all? The answer clearly is- those who can afford it. The best use of technology in my view is it's power to reach the lowest possible strata in the society. Today it is available to only few blessed but am sure time will come when it will reach to all the needy people and live through it's concept. Big names in hospital like Apollo and others could be the forerunners and prove to world that privatization has many pluss-es than trivial few minus points.

I remember the loss of my grandfather who was a very young, handsome and affluent person in the town. He went out for a visit and came back. On his return he just vomited and before anyone know, he was gone. Cholera has consumed him. Those days Cholera was another deadly disease which has consumed many a lives. Today medical system has advanced so much that a person who is almost declared dead had survived through revival system.

Modern healthcare has not just reduced mortality rate in humans but have also made the existing life comfortable. One of the biggest blessing that I see today is a life is saved cause we are able to diagnose the ailment and treat immediately. Gone are the days when people lost their near and dear ones without any explanations. The deadly TB is so curable these days. No child has to suffer polio as the anti polio medicines are available at every nook and corner of Indian geography.

Technology has indeed touched human lives in ways more than one and made the living on this planet, a better living.

Waking, Walking, Singing, in the Next Dimension? 1979 by Morris Graves

The little bird opened his soft eyes and looked around
It was a whole new world that the birdie found

A Mouthful of Sky

Shyamal, 59 was very fond of eating sweets. Anything made with syrupy sugary becomes his favorite, in particular the source of all sugar- Sugar canes. Yes, Shyamal would often barge into his large sugarcane fields, pluck the most good looking, juicy piece and start indulging in the taste of the fruit. He would take pride in relishing the juicy fruit with his teeth. His wife Rumini would often ask him to go easy on his teeth while chewing the hard exterior of sugar canes but he would let her concern go unattended. He would often settle her fear by telling how no one in his family never had any dental problem.

One day, while piercing the skin of the sugar cane through his teeth, some blood came out of his gums. His wife got worried and asked him to consult a doctor. he admonished her concern by telling that some raw hay of the cane would have got stuck in his gum and the bleeding will stop instantly. This happened quite a times but every time, Shymal would ignore the bleeding gums and chide away his wife to not make hill of an issue.

Six months passed and one day Shyamal visited his farm to inspect the fresh grown produce. He saw the sugarcane crops growing and touching the golden skies. He couldn't help but sigh and thrown a very hungry look over the violet-green sugarcane laden fields. He wanted to open his mouth and sink his teeth on the sugary, fresh skin of new harvest but Alas his painful jaws prevented him from opening his mouth.

"Shamu baba! see Ramsingh uncle has got me a basket of sugarcane to eat. They are very juicy. Let's do a competition of who eats more sugarcane"? asked his 6 year old grand daughter Radha.

Shyamal thrown a longing looks over the bright, pearly piece of the fruit, ready to be popped in mouth but suddenly remembered his tooth problem and withdrawn his hands from the basket. He signaled Radha to have it whole and sat back watching her eat. "If only I have paid heed to my bleeding gums and consulted doctor on time, I wouldn't be suffering with this grave dental disease" he thought. "If only, I have paid heed to the signs".

-------
Rushima, 6 year old was very lenient when it comes to brushing her teeth. Her brushing regime was irregular and has gone worse with age. She was very fond of eating chocolates and junk food and often sleep without brushing her teeth.  Childhood bad habits dies hard. As she grew a couple of years older, she started having severe toothaches. Her father earlier dismissed this as an excuse to avoid going school but when it became regular, he took up the issue. A visit to doctor and it was confirmed that she has many cavities in her tooth which needs to be immediately attended. Few sessions at dentist and her teeth were back to good health. She started brushing regularly and then one day she came back to her old regime. Doctor advised her to brush her teeth twice a day but much to some false convenience or call it taking things for granted, she would brush only when she would sense a minor toothache.

Today Rushima is 16 year old and suffer multiple cavities. Her food contents are restricted and she often has to visit her dentist for artificial filling.

______

Issac, 33 was battling from a rare kind of cancer. His food pipe was damaged and his stomach was not able to digest his food properly. He was surviving on sheer liquid diets and would often visit hospital for treatment. He was not like this few years back. A small sore in his mouth has changed his life completely. If only he had not ignored that gum problem initially.

Issac George was a passionate film maker who picked smoking during his final year of graduation from arts college. Peer force and work pressure made him habitual of tobacco and soon her started consuming all kinds of Paan Masala to get the kick. Smoking a cigarette has become mandatory for him every time he or his colleagues took a break, a tea break. Sooner smoking cigarettes during tea break converted into taking frequent breaks to smoke. Issac started puffing at least a dozen cigarettes in a day. Frequent visits at Betel stand also exposed him to the world of chewing tobacco and flavored betel nuts which became his staple food. One day, Issac found a certain pain in his jaw and the muscles there started to contradict. He thought that it is temporary symptom caused due to eating non vegetarian food at that unknown joint last night. He took some pain killers and subsided the pain for a week. One morning when he woke up he found his entire right side of ace is swollen up. On cross examination at bathroom mirror, he found there is a small wound inside his mouth just over his gum. He planned to visit a doctor soon but deferred the idea thinking it will be all right. Sooner that sore was subsided and the pain was gone but there was something wrong with Issac' voice and throat. He saw couple of local doctors who gave some medicines but nothing helped in long term untill one day when Issac started coughing blood and failed to eat anything. He was soon rushed to a good doctor who sadly informed about Issac' incurable mouth disease.

Issac's frequent mouth trouble didn't deter him from smoking and today, he is unable to eat even a normal food which is not in liquid form. Frequent smoking and chewing tobacco has caused some kind of infection in his mouth and a lack of care of which lead it to grow till his abdomen.

_______

Moral of the story-
All the above three narratives tell us how from time to time, our body tries to tell us about some internal anomalies going and how we fail to heed them. From Shyamal to Rushima to Issac, everyone ignored the warning signals and faced severe consequences, repercussion of their "who cares" behaviors. They forgot the fact that our body function exactly in a way a domino does. Every things, parts is linked to each other and when one thing stops, rest all severely affected too.

We take our mouth and oral care so much for granted that we forget the crucial role that it plays on our daily lives. A small little tooth can cause so many problems that has capacity of killing a white elephant.

Never ignore the signs, the warnings that body gives to you. No matter how inconsequential they may appear in beginning.

Our mouth is as precious as our face. Often we tend so much towards out face that we forget the up keeping of our mouth. And mouth is the prime source from where we consume food and send it to our body via our throats to derive energy, nutrition and fuel for body to function. The quality of life we lead often depends on quality of food we eat. Sometime a small sore that we ignore in our mouth becomes a mighty germ manifesto creating infection in mouth and throat and spoiling the food we eat. Like a germ build up that dents our teeth, similarly a mouth infection or in particular problems in gums leads to dire straits. The moral of the story is- Better safe than sorry! To be safe, we need to learn to listen and understand all the warning signals that our body throw. A healthy mouth means a healthy Body!! Remember Superman exist only in stories and even he cannot afford to ignore the warning signs.

WeChat, the new buzz in town has given me a opportunity to chat with any 5 people alive, dead or fictional. Cool! I started making random list of top 5 plus people that I immediately wanted to connect. I wondered who all? It says- 300 mn chat users are about to evolve and I couldn't wait to be part of the evolution. Without any further ado, I successfully downloaded the free app from Android Play Store. It was simple to install, register and use. I customized my profile and added a picture of hot coffee mug as my profile picture. It was delight to see a lot of my contacts online. Thanks to "Add contacts" feature that sync in all contacts from mobile to Facebook accounts.

While browsing, a picture of an angel weeping beneath her wings took my attention. I searched the details and discovered a long lost friend of mine- Angela. One of the most cherubic girl around, truly an angel but why broken wings? I pinged her and she was equally surprised to hear from me. On further chatting, I realized that Angela is going through a tough phase of life, bearing quite a depressive demeanor leading to suicidal tendencies. She has made a few attempts in past, thankfully unsuccessful. I left everything else and tried to talk her out of this. The conversation moved on like this-

Suicidal? Why? What on earth has happened so wrong Angela that you have decided to end a beautiful life? You were such a rock star in high school who dreamed of nothing but stars and has every thing in self to reach there.

Yes, I was but you do not know in last few years what I have gone through. Rather what I have not gone through. Life is no more beautiful, it has become a series of unending pain. Pain that I cannot suffer anymore. I am a failure and I can't live with such a failure.

You are young, the age is on your side. Past failure doesn't mean that future will fail too. Come on, have heart. It is a cowardice act to kill one's life just cause few things didn't work our way. Start afresh, Life is beautiful.

I tried multiple times but every time I came back failed. Now no more. The life that has no meaning is not worth living. I am not the first one. History is full of people like us who decided to be dead than alive.

I was about to dissuade Angela but halted for a moment to see a familiar face requesting to join the chat. It was non other than Jiah Khan, the young starlet who has recently committed suicide and was in news all over for speculating theories related to her suicide.

Hi this is Jiah. I agree with Angela. When life leaves nothing to offer, it is better to end it. People do not know the pain a person suffer, they can never know. Life is unfair, totally unfair. I know what it takes to battle a failed a relationship, abuse and cheat

What are you talking Jiah? What have you done is quite unfair. To kill one' life just cause someone was not good enough to reciprocate your love, is nonsense. Life is unfair but then suicide is no justice. There is no consolation to abuses or heartbreaks but to move on.

Move on? how? How many times? Do you realize the pain of abuse from the man you love? It is easier said than done. The one who suffers only knows what they go through. I can't tell you my pain, my troubled childhood. The society is all preachy but none comes to your rescue unless you are a bigwig or a celebrity child.

Jiah, You were young, enterprising and above all you were a popular face. The reason that love happened to you, opportunity came to your way is a clear indication of your forthcoming achievement. You got a dream debut. "Take lite" a philosophy that you endorsed to entire nation in your first movie. The pain you are talking about is quintessential part of everybody's life. It is just that few people suffer more than others but they survive and emerge as winner later.

I failed in love. My career was not taking the shape it should be. I debut with BigB but yet to establish my name here. The bad childhood doesn't spare me either. It was an abusive relationship. I had no choice.

Before Jiah could finish her statement we have got new members added in the chat, shifting the "you" and "I" chat to a complete "We Chat" scenario. The "hold to talk voice messaging" acted as a boon and soon power women from different era started joining in. Read the excerpts to know more-

Well, there is no truth in the allegations that your making, Jiah. You have not just killed yourself but made my son's life even more miserable. You were a problem child whose stigma has made our life miserable

Behold, my daughter is not a problem child, it was your son who had a problem. He abetted Jiah towards suicide. She was full of life and loved him no end. Instead he kicked her, abused her. It is who made the damage....

If Sooraj was bad then why did she continue to stay with him? What stopped her from moving to a better relationship? What gain came with suicide?

It is easy to say- take it or leave. This is not how relation works- spend a day with one and another week with someone else. It's relationship of hearts, emotions, not a beer brand. Jiah was full of life and loved him no end.  We were planning to get her out from this relationship and concentrate on her career. Little did we knew that he will drove her to this. He..

Hold your horses ladies We know you are a grieved mothers where one has lost her daughter and other one is fighting a legal battle to get her son out from judicial custody. The issue is not who is guilty but issue is why suicide? Jiah would have suffered a lot but suicide is no solution.

Mahabanoo

Hi ladies, I am Mahabanoo and am associated with Ring the bell and "Vagina Monologues". I too have strong disregard for this suicide business. Why do our society fail to teach the value of life? Why a man or a woman commit suicide and how is that going to help resolve? Is suicide an end in self? The only solution to all problems?

Hi, I am the girl from Delhi who was brutally raped, injured & left to die on roads with a shame never seen before and pain that cannot be expressed. The entire world know what happened to their brave-heart. Still I wanted to live, wanted to fulfill my dreams. Mortality took me away. Dear Jiah, Angela and all those of you who feel that your life is no more worthy of living, do you still think that what happened to you was worse than this? You at least had a choice to live.

Yes Jyoti, what happened to you was indeed horrible. Never did we imagined that human kind will behave like this one day. Our heart goes for you. You were indeed brave. RIP

Dear all, This is Indian women. Women who are mothers, daughters, sisters and wife. We go through a new grind every day. Grind by nature, grind by fellow human beings. We are made to suffer many atrocities daily. From education to harassment to dowry to childlessness, the list is endless. A lot of us commit suicide but a large no of us are awakening to realities of life. Suicide is no solution. Women who have committed suicide in past paved more ways for the atrocities rather than bringing them down. We are sure that even a hundred thousand more of us commit suicide, it is not going to help anyone but the perpetrators of atrocities. We do not idol women who have killed themselves but women who fight the atrocities in their life till last breath like Rani of Jhansi.

Thank you women of India. Your faith made my struggle worthwhile. I am Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. Jiah and Angela, I met few of your contemporaries Nafisa Joseph and Kuldeep few days back and was disheartened to know about their suicide. I feel women today is much more empowered, educated and liberated than what we used to be in our times. Still we never gave up and fight every adversity tooth and nail. It is better to fight and die than run away from life. Death is not a solution, I reiterate. I am not as literate as you nor did we have communication engines like Internet, smart phone etc that women today has got. If you ask me, I will say that I lived and died with my head held high and not hanging in helplessness. If I can do, why can't you?

We all adore and appreciate your efforts and life, Rani. You have supporters but I had none. I was all alone in this big bad world of film fraternity and had no supporter. I did what I deem right. I asked for support but in today;s world no one support others. I was helpless, really helpless.

Do not wait for leaders my child, do it alone, person to person. Be faithful in small things because that is where your strength lies. Who said you were alone, my child? You had a family with you. Many do no have anyone to call family. You had a career that you have chosen for self. You had a life that gave you choice. If the place where you work was not conducive, you should have moved to another one, my child. You had all rights but no right to take your life away.

Thank you mother, thank you Rani of Jhansi. Your words are indeed motivating and I can see your point here. But I have been trying from last many years and all my philosophies are deeply challenged. I see my life worthy no more. My dream are lost. They do not entice me anymore. My passsion is dead and my expectation from life is nil. How do I live in such condition?

My Dear, when your life is passionless, live for others, set a new beginning. Do something that the generation will thank you about, think you in high regard. And I am not talking, I have actually done it. My life is a living example of living for others. Why you think you can not live? Live in service of god, my child

I so much agree with mother Teresa. Before your mourn what you have lost, you should celebrate what you have got. You should be blessed that God has given you good health which a lot of us are not gifted with. Take my example. I was blind but did I let myself succumb to it? No I understood the problem that I faced but instead of taking it as a cue to end my life, I took as a reason for living and developed something that has not just helped me but all people who were like me. All the world is full of suffering but it is also full of overcoming.

Your dreams are not dead my girl, they are gone for a new lease of life. What do your fear? You are a living embodiment of Durga, Kali and Saraswati. You are woman! Do not think yourself feeble. Lead my girl. Support will follow.

The conversation got intense. I was delighted to see Helen Keller, Mother Teresa, Rani Laxmi Bai and others joining in chatting away towards benefit of Angela and many others like her. Apparently, Angela started seeing the picture too and understood the importance of life. She wiped her tears away and promise to see her life in new light. She thanked each one of us. She agreed the boon of technology where life has given new means to get connected.  A lot more could be spoken on the subject but I thought of wrapping it up before we dilute the objective and thanked everyone to be part of this.

Thank you everybody. It was an indeed an inspirational talk. Angela my dear, see you are not alone. The whole clan of strong women are with you. Do not hold yourself back, do not take wrong examples. Lead by faith and strength and life will be with you. People who mock you today will admire you someday. Do not go what is seen on surface, see what lies beneath
.

Thank you everybody so much. I wish if someone would have spoken to me, guided me, supported me this way. I wish I had waited. I wish...All said and done, now all I wish is that coming generation learn from us and do not give their life so easily away for people who do not care for them.

Yes Jiah. I am thankful that we had this discussion today. I am thankful that we were able to connect with each other beyond time and space continuum. I am gonna save this chat forever and refer it as my guide in my dark and light hours. Thank you NumeroUnity. I have begin to see a new light now.

Thank you Angela for seeing substance in our words and trusting in it. I would not preach but always remember that- We see life is a light that fades away. Actually when we think it is gone away, it is not really gone away but it merges in us that we cannot see but feel. So start feeling life.It will love you.

With this we finally wrapped up our discussion. I am going to save this chat too and with help of WeChat, I have created a group too. It is called- WeChat Womaniya.
As I stopped writing, I took a moment and prayed to my late grand mother's soul, offering her my deep apologies for not being able to meet her before her death. She wanted to meet me from long but I took it for granted and today none of my excuse- work, distance, leaves consoles my grief of missing her. I miss her dearly and wish if we had an app like this earlier where I can keep in touch with her round the clock. Share my pictures, love, chat, voice over etc.

Communication technologies have far advanced and I request humbly to all my followers and readers to keep connected with each other. Material joys and self motives fades away, it is relations that helps us long way. In this connected world, being in touch help us to not just share but care. We all know that silence is like a cancer that grows and eat away a beautiful life. Don't let this silence seep in, don't let this depression aloof you, do not let the distances severe your communications, use WeChat and stay  connected to the connected world.

Grandiose Gourmet & Weekend Woods

It's the time to Partyyy!!
It's a weekend time! I have been working non stop and now I want to cool my heels and party hard. Time was less and I was in no mood to make elaborate arrangements of running behind caterers and decorators. Besides, I was tired partying at same old pubs and joints. We often gather at some friend/ relative's place or some local fancy diners. It is also a time to add twist to mundane and bring novelty.

Yes! I am going to host a party at woods this time like good old days of picnic but an evening picnic. Everybody is so busy with complexities of daily lives and urban living that we forget to enjoy, indulge and splurge in beauty of nature. Often a weekend gateway is time consuming and tedious especially when it comes to cook the food in the woods where half of your attention is on preparation and other arrangements than having actual fun. Let us glamorize the concept of picnic!

I shared the idea with my friend and partner in crime, my mother. She was bit stunned in the beginning. "Where would you do the party and how will you manage the food? It will be cumbersome" she said. I smiled and opened my kitchen cabinet full of my (a spinster's lifeline) ready to cook meals- Kitchens of India. "This will do wonders" I told her and started with my preparation.

Times have changed, so does our "kitchen". ITC Kitchen of India has liberated the way we used to cook our food with most interesting and awesome mix of ready to eat meals, and condiments. Time to further develop my plan with blueprints oops foodprints.

Ambiance: Entertainment: Location

I will have this party organized at a nice forest like setting which is not too far away from city and has lush green settings preferably a nearby forest resort or a dense farm house like the ones we have in Kapashera, Gurgaon.
Ambiance: I would use tones of green, brown and white. There would be a bonfire surrounded by neat looking wooden sitting platforms (at suitable distance from fire) in a square shape. The wooden platforms will be covered by fitting mattresses and round pillows leaving ample spaces at edge to keep the glasses.

A little away from the bonfire wood be my serving table that would stack some fine wines, beverages and an antipasti table. I will hang few paper light lamps on encompassing trees to steer away the dark and similar paper lanterns would be strategically placed at different spots of venue to act as path guiding light and object of decor.

For Entertainment, I will have a live ghazal (a form of singing) band on one side of the bonfire who would sing ghazals to enchant the guests across the era and also renditions on request. The melody of ghazal, the soothing dark yet lit ambiance, the comfortable sitting with bolsters, fine wine would kindle the appetite of my guests and they will enjoy their food even better.

To make party even more lively, I would have a game of pass the parcels, where a small bolster pillow will go around on music and will make people do different fun activities when music stops like dance in Gangnum style, like Sunny Deol or sing from your nose etc.

Here's the invite that I designed and each dispatched with a colorful clay lantern to each-

Gourmet Products
The best part of any party is food. People may forget the ambiance, the music but they always remember the food. So I am not going to take any risk when it comes to serving the taste buds of my guest and would rely only on the best. I would partner with "Kitchens of India" to come up with my delicatessen delight.

Drinks and starters would be served on arrival. Here's the menu I would handpick from http://shopping.kitchensofindia.com/.

Starters- Finger food
1.  Crispy Ravioli with Apple & Cinnamon conserve
2. Mini Grilled Sandwiches on Hot Mango Chutney

Main Course & Desserts
The Gourmet Products from Kitchen of India that suits my party best are-
1. Vegetable Biryani coked in Vegetable Biryani mix
2. Mirch ka Salan
3. Dal Bukhara
4. Murgh Methi
5. Hazoori Petha Halwa (goes perfectly well with "huzoor iss kadar bhi itra ke chaliye)

I can see happy faces and delight on people' face while/post the dining. My party seems to be a good success. Guess what I am going to gift them as return gift? Guess guess and click here- Gifting ideas!

So I am in process of sending you an invite you soon. Do come to my party!

I dream of a beauty
beauty that heart desire
of lush and serene beauty
beauty that my eyes admire

Beauty that I dunk
my heart inside
beauty that is not just skin deep
but even beautiful outside

--- NumeroUnity

Beauty is not just skin deep
Women and beauty has always complemented each other. While a lot is being spoken about the inner beauty, the external beauty still remain an undisputed terrain. They say- face is mirror of heart. So how can one afford to lose out on mirror and the reflex. While the effort is always there to keep improving, keep evolving the internal beauty. However, one cannot afford to ignore the external beauty either.

Light travels faster than sound.
So before you open your mouth, speak, create an impression, you are judged with the way you look. Crude but true. The simple philosophy that followed is- If you cannot manage what is your gift from god, your skin and your appearance. How are you suppose to manage everything else?

The world has been changing. With increased, stress, pollution, the beauty above skin is getting a harsh beating in a day to day busy lives. It is very important to maintain a daily intense skin care routine. But how? The market is filled with XYZ no of products each promising to deliver the moon for the user. Stats says the highest sellers are the fairness cream. But is that enough?

Following are the different beauty challenge that an average women has to face-
1. Dry skin
2. Skin darkening
3. Wrinkles
4. Dull, sagging skin

Why Olay Total effects?

The product- Olay Total Effects cream and serum addresses all the above concerns of any women incl- Ageing! It claims to fight the seven signs of ageing. What are seven signs of ageing? They are-
1. Fine lines and wrinkle
2. Uneven tones, patchy skin
3. Dark spot due to skin ageing
4. Sagging skin
5. Dry skin
6. Dull skin
7. Open pores

So if you are entangled between a choice of "fairer skin or younger looking skin" choose no m ore!
Cause Olay has come up with a breakthrough product that will cater to above two worries. You may concede that market shelves are full of wide range of such products claiming to deliver moon. However, there are only few brands or products that manage to inspire your trust year after year and product afte product. One such brad is- Olay! I am a big fan of their hallmark "Oil of Olay" cream and that faith brought me to try this product.
My verdict- The concept is very appealing. I have been a regular/ early user of Olay and have an established high trust on brand and delivery. I find the cream description useful and once applied the difference is apparent. I took some time to post my review so that I can see the prolonged effect. The product is mildly fragrant and quick to absorb. When applied, the cream creates a base on skin, making look more radiant.

Pricing: Rs 369 for 20G

My overall rating: 3 star

Pros and cons
Pros- Multiple utility product, brand trust of Olay, easy to use/carry, mild fragrance &quick absorbing
Cons: High price (limiting product penetration) and slight sticky texture, little itchy for sensitive skin like mine

Target groups or women benefiting from this product will be-
1. Age 25 and above
2. Working women
3. Housewives with strict schedules leaving lesser or no time for self care
4. Professionals
5. Women in beauty Industry

Do I recommend this product? The answer is yes. This was my feedback, do share your experience/feedback as well.

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani is a well made Budtameezi- Film Review

Director: Ayan Mukherji                     Genre: Romance                  Studio: Dharma Productions

Before I write anything, let me tell you I did not intend to see this movie, originally. I dismissed it off as any
other rom-com in market. I even refrained from seeing and writing a mock review as I do for some legendary movies like Murder or Himmatwala. Off course they are bad movie and didn't have Ranbir Kapoor in it. Going not just by word but every single performance that this cute superstar gives on screen including his promotional appearances on TV, makes him an instant object of affection for viewers at large.

So I didn't plan to watch this movie and then one day the trailers hit my TV at prime time. There was a song that took my attention- Balam Pichkari and I was glad to see it is from Ranbir- Deepikastarrer. A lot of my friends who had seen this movie did not gave a great review. While some really swear by it and needless to say they were these teeny-weeny  boppers. Ok! I said and took a soft copy of the movie from a friend on my laptop which I never opened or watched due to poor audio quality and lack of time while moving cities

We landed at city of Mumbai. The movie still didn't entice me enough to open my laptop or go to nearest multiplex until one fine day. I wanted to absorb my time for next 2 hours before dropping my mum at CST. I crossed Big cinema near Marine drivebut was not in mood to waste further Rs 500, so I moved on. I then landed near Eros cinema which was showing this movie along with couple others. Let's cut the story short. The movie timing everything worked for us and me and mom took our respective seat inside this old time movie hall. Men! It was not a "Kuch Kuch Hota hai" for us but the movie was worthwhile. Here's tell you why.

1. Apt casting- The casting director has done a good job here. Apart from the lead characters and their mysterious chemistry, it was a delight to see Farookh Seikh, Tanvi Aazmi back on screen. Other cast including Kalki Koechelin, Aditya Roy Kapoor too represented their character well. Deepika Padukone suits the character to T and given a picture perfect performance. Her on screen pairing with Ranbir is far superior than with Katrina Kaif. With this role and her acts in Cocktail and Love aaj kal, she has come of age from her past debacles like- break ke baad.

2. The story- Girl meets boy and fell in love. Boy meets girl but do not fall in love. Girl and boy meet again, love is confessed, love is suppressed and finally, love is addressed and sealed. This may sound cliche while you wonder that how come two beautiful people like them didn't get hooked so long but then, it is movie. The story is simple and resonates well.

3. Sensible Dialogues- The film had "to the point" and "easy to relate" with our current lifestyle dialogues. This shows writer's and director's understanding of the market, urban youth, invariably their target audience. No punjab ki gaaliyan and OTT Sarso-makki sagas and Karwa chauths were entertained here. From a scene were Deepika' onscreen mother (the effervescent Dolly Ahluwalia from Vicky Donor) was making snide remarks on Kalki's lifestyle over dinner table, her take and Deepika's response, to a scene were Ranbir was expressing his "Temple run" dreams to his father or the scene in Jodhpur/Udaipur where Naina tells Kabir to slow down in life rather than attempting to do every thing in one breath and many such more elicit good examples.

4. Realistic approach to story and characters- A particular scene when Farukh brings mangoes for Ranbir and that expensive bag for his secret trip was written and executed well. They were so true to reality that got everyone including my mom hooked to the movie.

5. Masala Ingredients- The movie has it all from Celebrity Item number to grand wedding, glamorous actresses showing off their well curated bodies, necklines, waist lines and all lines beyond the lines in clothing marvel by ace designer Manish Malhotra. It also has great outdoor locations, action, drama, humor. The film's opening credit was awesome with the lavishness, royalty of Indian wedding stitched in it with an equally delectable song.

It was truly a Karan Joharmovie and great relief from Shahrukh-Kajol soaky sagas. Men, they are outdated!

6. Good Music- I thought "Balam Pichkari" was the best song until I heard "Budtameez dil" and also, "Kabira" from the opening credits of the movie. SubhanAllah job Preetam Chaudhury. Budtameez dil reminded me of Late Shammi Kapoor and his onscreen electrical presence. It is a kick of a song shot on most suitable actor. Anyone else, couldn't have done as much justice.

7. Ranbir Kapoor- I am not a teeny weeny bopper but what the hell, I really adore the actor since his performance in "Rockstar". Show me one sensible person who would like to disagree. One person who has outshine Ranbir this time is Deepika with her wonderful performance. She holds her forte really well even while playing cliche to death "Naina" role as well her transformed hot chick version.

8. Cinematography- The picturesque locales depicting mountains, hill side, sleepy villages of Manali and grandeur of Udaipur were well captured and looked breathtaking. Good job Manikand V. Apparently a lot scenes were shot in Gulmarg than Manali.

What didn't work for me in this movie-
1. Item Song & Dance by Madhuri Dixit- I am an old time admirer but the logic was not clear to me for having that song, that lyrics at that particular time in a movie like this. Nevertheless, the song will be quite useful for pre-wedding sangeets across country. So "bin matlab ki bakwaas hai tera ghaghra".

2. Over the Top lifestyle- It is visually pleasing to see a certain kind of lavish set, good costumes, beautifully sculpted characters on screen. However, some time an overdose of it tends to have an over powering impact on story and narration of the film. The movie seems to be highly targeted at the upper-upper class segment and that too is fine as long as it doesn't draft away from being entertaining.

3. Bunny? I couldn't digest the fact that Ranbir Kapoor' name is Bunny in the movie. Whatever the logic could be. Lolz Bunny is Funny.

4. The Over the Duh characterization of Kunal Roy Kapoor

My overall verdict is- The movie may not be as brilliant as Wake Up Sid but it is a worth watching. Entertainment quotient is good. The starcast, music, story, screenplay all may not be field fresh but are quite unique and well stitched and makes for a good watch. If nothing else, the lead stars' fans can see this movie for their sheer screen presence and yup it will do good business.

(PMS) Performance Management System- Trips & Tricks

$
0
0
That time of year when men or women both suffer a common pain inducing ailment- PMS.

Yes, PMS. Before your run your horses wild, PMS stands for Performance Management System or in commonly management/ corporate known language- Appraisals.

Some years back I used to see appraisals as a great opportunity but down the line I realized it is nothing but a snooze alarm for reality check. Introspection? Yes, we do that for full year, don't we? If you think a person should do self introspection only when his/her boss asks him to do, that person borders on being either highly uneducated or just a new entrant into the world of corpo-rats!

Yes, rats! Here's few "never failed" mantra for all those who in spite of high sincerity, honesty and dedication their work are still unable to climb that corporate ladder. Aha time for disclaimer, these mantras are purely factual and inferred from the cases I have seen around. They are strictly tried and tested by others. What's mine funda? Well I'll share them post these mantras-

1. Threat nor Plea- Before the time of appraisal, get another job or pretend to have secured another job and then hint your company about your plans to quit. You may actually put your papers. 99% chances are that you will be retained and retained with promotion.

2. Start socializing with your boss- If you are a man, playing golf with boss pays off certainly. Also, you can join same club as him and make frequent visit to bars with him. You must aim at fulfilling your boss needs and should also have an ability to keep secrets even if that involves hiding the fact that your boss last outstation visit was to check out a property called Munni or Sheila, you must be discreet and above all "resourceful". ( Golf tips here)

For females, wear attractive cloths, always smile at your boss even if he is trying to flirt with you to the level of indecency and worse sleep with him. Whatever you do, certainly do not dismiss his (shameless) passes made at you. In case, if you are one of those rare decent lots who believe in self esteem over boss' Ferrari, you need to quickly change your boss/job instead of expecting him to turn saint over your emotional pleas.

3. Go Blah- No matter how minuscule is your job, go around the town creating buzzword of how you moved mountains or bled sweats to achieve your tasks even if that involves opening your mail box and forwarding your mails to your subordinates to reply. A lot of bosses go for "perception". You may not been able to close a small operational issue but talking lengths about it, showcasing your concerns, throwing jargon do help. For example- Never say "blue sky". Rather say- "the ceaseless cerulean above the reach and  might of human reach in form or construction which is vast less and glowing in it's own solar incandescence". Another example- "I think raises will be definitely there this year. The portion may look small but it is actually a small box which is large from inside. We are giving small raises because we are not giving large raises". To lean more, here's the Forbes' list of most annoying business jargons.

4. Please everybody- No body cares what good you do to company as long as it doesn't harm them or question their inefficiencies. You must first work for your boss and his kitchen cabinet and then if there' any scope left- for company. Boss is your God, he is your Ayyapa temple. So what if you may have to compromise on organizational ethics? Ethics and moral values are weapons of weak. Sticking to them give you L4 ratings, violating them gives you A1.

5. Never say no to seniors and know the "who's who" of your team- Even if they ask you to carry their laptop, diaries etc over your own stuff for them. They asked you to get tea to a crucial meeting while you are expected to take notes? Take note and rush to get them tea, coffee and even edibles which they can happily munch on while you stay, sit empty stomach since last night working on the presentation for this meeting.

Knowing the influential team members and extending them your "free respect" also comes handy. He is after all may be a VP or your boss' ex-colleague or his/her blue-eyed boy. Oh! he misbehaved with you trying to violate the code of conduct right in front of your boss? well turn him as blind/ignorant eye that your boss has turned on it while being at the situation. Rather smile sheepishly and say you are most welcome.

Oh you told your boss about this rat in your system who is disclosing business secrets which were supposed to be confined within closed user group or just suggested him how a fellow colleague never supports with right data on right time and all of them turns to be his old timers (off course who else would dare to mess with boss' data otherwise), then you are gone for a six or even if there is a rating lower than that. So brave it all and never complain. Be a scapegoat, a smiling scapegoat to save your appraisal.

No matter what your heart says, follow your shrewd brains and social logics. BOSS IS NEVER WRONG even if he is Osama Bin Laden. remember he is like that American prez who has power by virtue of his position and electoral voting and who may not think twice before killing you, your family for some oil. If you still are not able to understand this, then my dear your "analytical skills" are weak too.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call PMS as Painful Management System for many who slog hard around the year, compromising their personal life, family and parents only to be given blank responses and poor ratings. Some PMS reminded me the marking system at schools where certain egoistic teaches would cut your marks on a small spelling mistake in math's paper. Reason? You haven't enrolled for their tuition or may you have not praised their stupid demeanor to seal your mark as a lackey. Boss, you have not stayed to the norms, so bear the brunt.

Focus on Presentation- There are appraisals where your boss oblivion of your capabilities (however limited they may be) judge you by the Gucci bag you carry, color of eye liner you applied that day or oh no! you wore black color and boss just hates that color. If you are working in a support function like logistic, network or supply chain and your Power Point skills are better than other team members, you are in for success. So what if you do nothing except making slides and plagiarizing someone else contents.

So what if you slogged all year to get people trained for Six sigma and bring inefficiencies in their work, some appraisers will make you change your KRA on a minute before appraisal and happily transfer them to his yes-men in team asking you to swap your individual KRAs. So you are contemplating to complain to HR? Hmmm go ahead.

Theory of "Vital few and trivial many"- this theory suffers a big blow when in hands of certain boss who looks for every single opportunity to scrutinize and nail you down with destructive criticism. Out of 10 projects given you would have done 8 projects successfully but those 2 projects left will tarnish your ratings.

Out of 10 projects if you would have done all 10, still you are just meeting expectations as you did just what was told and lacked initiative to undertake an 11th project.

If you have done 12 projects from 10 assigned then you were given lesser work and you still could have undertaken more and justified your salary and growth to next level.

If you were given 10 projects and you finished all except one which was withdrawn from company ;level, still you have under-worked and do not deserve good promotion unless you turn puppy with a tongue.

In short, you can never win certain bosses and God forbid you if they are influential and yet biased.

I am not saying that all PMS are bad or there is no validity of having one in a company. There are certain company/ bosses who are interested in value you can create and also in your well being like developing you as a professional so you become a dream team member and together you can work on some ambitious projects amicably and successfully. Alas, they are very low in number.

My mantra for success is hard work, persistence and luck. Also, a very important factor is comfort level. If you are comfortable in a certain role, you may add value. But if you are given a good role for name sake whereas all the properties and elements of that role is assigned to someone else and you are expected to please either by secretarial kind of support or errands that are consequential in nature but never noted for appraisal unless you wear short-tight dress or play golf.

Luck is equally important as no matter how much hard work do you do, having a right boss is also important. To have a good boss, you need luck.

Grass is never greener on other side- If you think you will quit this idiot and move to better organization, you may be in for a good or bad surprise. What if you get a bigger idiot there who do not bother to spend ten minutes with you and still seals your performance ratings without even discussing with you?

On a lighter side, here's few comic strips to ease off your PMS pain.

So, are your PMS'ing yet?

Dig deep and deep
he was told
the more your dig deeper
you may find gold

he wore anxiety and a feather
on his hat
he went even probing further down,
still no luck, drat!

Until one day,
when he decided to return
to where he belonged
his own bretheren

"Don't give up"
advised the caves
"give it another chance"
make a new way and pave

he gave in to temptations
and resumed back
went further down the mine
On a new track

He saw some light
he chased the flow
the trail took him farther
and deeper did he go

He reached a shadow
from where the light spring
he digged by his hands
shovel and wring

"All that glitters
is not gold"
he remembered
what the wise-men told

He did not stop
and went ahead on search
he saw some coal
he halted & perch

Inside he found
what glistened his eyes
squeezed his heart
gushing in to seven skies

sealed with stones
pebbles strewn all around
beneath the dirty coal powder
finally treasure he found.

"I found my gold"
said he
treasure sparkled his sight
his efforts were made worthy.

life is not all about
digging the gold
it also encompasses victory of light
and visions that sages hold

the light that shone
beneath the pebbles bright
that was the light of wisdom
renewed his vision, reaped delight

the gold is in you
why go wild goose chase
refine it further o' human
soak in and engage

search no where
but your heart
for it is the basic principle
of all things to start.

The day you conquer self
you will find bigger Gold
Be your own alchemist
Be your own Gold!

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move".
Robert Louis Stevenson

There was a time when there was no GPS, no navigator and travel still was fun. It had that mysterious value, thrill attached to it for embarking on a journey and exploring new roads. I am talking about time way back in 1980's when I was in school and often used to go for short-long tips with my maternal uncle whom I used to "Chand mama" (A childhood legend where moon is fondly called Mama- Maternal uncle and I fondly called my uncle as Chandmama).

Those were the amazing trips of my life. Given a chance, I would love to relive one of those trips again. The trips were often routes than destinations. Often the destination was decided during the course of journey, decided and discovered. Companions used to follow. The only definitive used to be the Journey and willingness to venture in a trip.

Road trips are best way to explore the beauty of nature via the nearest route. The inane wish to travel to new lands were best fulfilled by road trips.
Go with the flow, go wherever the roads go.

My idea of a perfect road trip: An excuse to travel

I spent an enormous part of my childhood at my maternal grand parents' place. I was a free spirited, roaming bird and love to explore unknown places. A wild wish that was often given wings and roots by my eldest uncle who was my mom, my pop, my sibling and my best friend all in one.

If I can beat time and space continuum, I would like to take one of my childhood road trips again. Trips where routes and destination where defined by frame of mind or by mood of weather. When you have a liberty to wish, then wish something unique and quite wishful :)

"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware."

Martin Buber

For my perfect road trip, I would prefer my same old routine, the one I used to do in childhood. I will go back to my routes and become the child again and go for destination infinity road trip with my uncle. I would like to re-live those old moments. We would chose the same oldFiat Premiere Padmini- the exclusive grey color car that he bought exclusively for me so that I can go wherever I want in the most exclusive piece of machinery available that time. The car bore my full name in caps behind the back screen. May be in 2013, I would like to exchange that car for a convertible. So that I can lower the roof and sing- Aaj phir jeene ki tammana haifrom the legendary movie- Guide. The back storage of car would have the same red color big ice box filled with my favorite cold drinks. There will be no dearth of edibles in my car which would include all favorite finger foods and ready to cook foods while on jungle safari.

I would go back to same litchi farms and with help of farm staff pick up the most juiciest of litchi and dump them in my car rear seat without fear of any distinctive smell. The lovely red, juicy fruit. A taste that still lingers my heart, a taste that I will savor again on my journey.

I would revisit countryside where nature thrives, where nature grows. I would again stop by at the mango orchard and savor the sweet nectar.

Two's company and three's crowd. We are having fun and you are not allowed!
There are two ways of enjoy a road trip. One either you go alone. Two, in company of fewer yet like minded people. In my case, I would like to resume it back with my uncle who is no more in this world though still in my own world. We both were great fan of Hindi music. From classic to retro to latest, there wasn't any song that we have not heard of, there wasn't any song that did not played on our car stereo. No joy like going round the road, humming.

Ambikapur 360 Kms

Ambikapur is a sleepy town in Surguja district where I have spent a major portion of my childhood and traveled a lot around for family visits, fun and sheer experience of exploration. One of my memorable trip was way back in 80's when we traveled almost 360 degree angle sides of Ambikapur city. Yes, it was not a cautious plan but we did it.

Some of my trips were to our neighboring villages like Kusmi, Wadrafnagar, where my grand father has owned lands and had many farmers working on them. I remember, how we used to take an hour or two' break journey at the house of village head, participate in local trouble shooting, sip the "kulhad wali chai" and some local delicatessen from the villages and ah the smell of mud houses of Madhya Pradesh.

When it rains, the earth dispels a very sweet smell. What is trip without getting to stop by a local Dhaba (small highway restaurant). I would like to spot a traditional dhaba, stop by, will sit cross legged on the village cot and enjoy desi food before reconvening my trip.

Now I really want to go for my perfect trip. Ambipur, thanks for refreshing my memories back.

Lets take on the roads
the country roads
the wide highways
the roads that leads to home
the roads that may lead to Rome
For who has seen Rome yet
There is so much places to roam.

Let's embark on a journey
the route is destination along
the long wide roads of my village
the short narrow lanes of home town
Let's enjoy the rain, if it down pours
follow the water trail, chase the rainbow
passing by the paddy and corn fields
lets throw a glance as long

Let stop by a small hill
let's put a tent on
to rest the spirits for the night
and next morning turn vagabond

Lets cross the desert
let's pass by the snow fall
much away from city traffic
much away from chaos of horn

My perfect road trip will be full of these
Fun, adventure, music & song
nature, beautiful weather, rain & food
and the roads not traveled before

Let's go for a perfect trip
let's make every trip a perfect one
let's relish that most memorable trip
let's add more for memoirs song

Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not.
Oprah Winfrey

I learnt a lot of my virtues from my maternal grandparents. They were an extreme good influence and an amazing catalyst in my learning process during my growing up years.

They taught me many things (directly & indirectly), among which few are the one I can still recall-

1. Doing rights things no matter what it may spell.
2. Understanding the value of money
3. Invest in people and everything you can but diversify your investments whether they are financial, social or purely emotional to hedge the risks
4. Help other and Help selflessly
5. Always put people ahead
6. Maintain a clean surrounding as you would maintain a clean heart, if not for others but for self.
7. Do not give up!

My grand mom would always tell me tales from the lives of Lord Krishna, birds, animal kingdom and many such things. Those tales would be full of fun but will always a message inside them. I would often engrossed in their intricacies and wonder if they were just an old world charm or do they still hold good in front of larger groups.

As I grew up I realized, a lot of this virtues were treated outdated and people would often mock someone practicing it. For eg- standing up and giving the bus seat to a needy person was mere filmy. Well that was the part of growing up. Sooner I realized that those virtues, no matter how much sound "not in practice" in current times, were still important. Hence I prefer to stick to them.

My grand ma also told me value of money and investments and how certain things in life is beyond money or gain. I have often seen her doing right things and protecting people. I would question why? Let them have a taste of water andf realize but she would insist saying as long as she can manage saving someone from leaning without burning their hands, she will do.

She told how our deeds evolve us as a person, how our thoughts evolve our deeds. We often become the person we see, we think without even realizing about it.

The power of education

Education is not just about reading a phrase in textbook and qualifying in an exam. It is much more. It is power. We learn through different ways. One of the prime way to learn is during your childhood. Remember the time we use to go to school and were in early grades. Our textbooks would read very basic things like how we should get early in morning and brush our teeth regularly and go to school etc. Those may sound silly but when you draw right context you may realize how they lay foundation in a human being and how following them redirects life to right direction.

Next to doing the right thing, the most important thing is to let people know you are doing the right thing.
John D. Rockefeller

Sometime it is very important for you to disclose your action or deeds. You must explain so that people can see through and follow. A lot of times when we cannot explain, we express it by setting self as benchmarks.

One act of kindness goes a long way
To commensurate what Rockfeller said, I will narrate an incidence from my school life.

When I was in school,I never got pocket money. Whatever, wishes I had, were evaluated and fulfilled by the grandparents and family. However, every morning, my nanaji would give me a Re 1 coin or note to put it in my piggy bank. It was his way to teach me to start savings.

There was a "poor fund" collection at my convent school where my class teacher had allocated 4 different boxes for four different houses/groups in the class- Orange, Green, Red and Blue. Students were allocated in each group. Every morning, she will keep the boxes on the table for collection. The money would be collected and donated to poor people to support their education. Donating the money was optional and students donating the money, will put the money to the boxes belonging to their respective groups. Very few students would ever come regularly to donate the money. I belonged to the Orange group and by virtue of our nos, we were very few students- barely three in that class belonging to that group. Call it my love for poor or my wish to donate or my lack of need for money for self, I would always donate the money in the box to bring my group up.

One day, my grandpa asked me as to what do I do with the Re1 given to me everyday as I was depositing very few of it in my piggy bank. I told him about my class donation. He said nothing. I thought he got angry. Next morning, when I was going to school and  was standing at my school gate for the bus to come, my grandpa as customary came to me and handed me my daily coin. I realized that day, he handed me not re 1 coin but two coins of Re 1 each. The second one was for my poor fund donation! In addition, he brought a piggy bank full with coins and asked me to drop another Re 1 coin in that. The moment I dropped my other Re 1 coin in that, he handed that box to me saying it was my reward and I can keep it with me. I was all smile and hugged him tight before I ran for my school bus.

No words, speeches or stories but a lesson was taught.

I
Once upon a time,
Lived a blood tie, all docile.
and then came discord
Brother and sister
stung by turmoil, set apart
thrown by sands of time

Don't leave me, she plead.
 little did he realize
that she was not wrong

making his choice, leaving
her high and dry, he told
she is not worthwhile

Time says blame me not
for silly reasons when human fought
don't call me bad time

time is constant on
the move. invest in it to
bloom, it pays back.

Learn it's value, Oh Men
once gone, it doesn't come again
only guilts remain

II

Time heals and reveals
the naked truths of each life
whom and why one lie?

Time is like sea tide
alarming, flowing, mobile.
They both wait for none.
